  • ARI Cornerback #24
Chiefs selected South Carolina CB Rashad Fenton with the No. 201 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Via the Athletic’s Dan Brugler, Fenton is a composed athlete with the quickness to stick with any type of receiver, but his grabby hands and questionable mental process are potential road blocks to his pro future. Like all sixth-round picks, Fenton is a tossup to make the roster.

NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein notes that South Carolina senior CB Rashad Fenton “shows route recognition.”
Zierlein describes Fenton (5'11/193) as a “Compact cornerback with average length and excessive lower body tightness who lacks fluidity and discipline to handle man coverage as an NFL cornerback.” Fenton played in the East-West Shrine game and produced an athletic composite score in the 19th percentile at the NFL Scouting Combine. He’s a tough sell as an NFL draft pick at this point but should find himself in an NFL training camp.
  • ARI Cornerback #24
South Carolina senior CB Rashad Fenton accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game.
Fenton (5'11/188) appeared in 12-plus game for the Gamecocks the last three years, and this season he finished with three interceptions and six passes broken up. Because of his size, he’s very likely going to have to play in the slot, but he’s a quality athlete who has returned kicks for South Carolina, so it shouldn’t shock anyone if he tests well at the Combine. If he can combine (no pun intended) that with a solid showing in St. Petersberg, it will big a big boon for his draft stock.

South Carolina junior CB Rashad Fenton will return kicks in the absence of WR Deebo Samuel (leg).
Samuel returned kickoffs for touchdowns against both NC State and Missouri to open the season, but after breaking his leg against Kentucky on Saturday, Denton will take over as primary kick-returner. This is not a completely foreign role for him -- the 5-foot-10, 184-pounder has 16 kick returns to his fair name (14 of those coming as a true freshman in 2015), good for 437 total yards and a score. South Carolina HC Will Muschamp also name-checked Rico Dowdle, Shi Smith and Ty’Son Williams as other potential options in the return game behind Fenton.
