The Detroit Red Wings have signed defenseman Kyle Quincey to a two-year, $7.55 million deal, avoiding arbitration with the now-former restricted free agent.
Quincey will be expected to play a significant role for the Wings in 2012-13 following Nicklas Lidstrom’s retirement and Brad Stuart’s departure for San Jose. The 26-year-old struggled after being traded to Detroit from Colorado (via Tampa Bay) in February, but he’s shown he can play in the top four during stints with the Kings and Avs.
Quincey’s cap hit equals $3.775 million, an increase on his previous hit of $3.125 million.
