With Brian Elliott medically cleared to play in St. Louis, and with Jake Allen requiring waivers in order to be sent to the AHL, what will the Blues do with Martin Brodeur after the 42-year-old makes his 1,248th career NHL start tonight versus the Avalanche?
At least one former goalie thinks tonight could be the last time we see Brodeur in an NHL game:
While it’s possible the Blues could carry three goalies for a spell, that’s not an ideal situation. And besides, it’s not like Brodeur has given them a great reason to keep him around, with an .892 save percentage in five appearances.
Those numbers won’t help Brodeur’s case with any other potential team, either. (Like, say, Minnesota.)
“We’re going to start Marty (Monday), but our hope is that (Elliott) is ready here in the next couple of days,” Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said yesterday.
St. Louis plays in Nashville tomorrow and Anaheim Friday.
