  • Real leads La Liga series (W71-D32-L68)
  • Barca unbeaten in 39 matches in all comps
  • Barcelona won first meeting 4-0 in Nov.

Barcelona have not lost a match since October, entering this weekend on a 39-match unbeaten streak in all competitions. However, records can be thrown out the window when El Clasico comes around, as rivals Real Madrid travel to the Nou Camp on Saturday.

Luis Enrique’s Barca side is enjoying one of the best seasons in club history, sitting with a nine-point lead over Atletico Madrid and a ten-point lead over third-place Real. While the league title looks to be heading back to Catalonia, Enrique will still be keen to get a result in El Clasico and extend that record-run to 40 matches.

Zinedine Zidane is ready for his first Clasico as a manager, hoping to avoid a similar result to the meeting earlier this season when Rafa Benitez oversaw a 4-0 defeat by a Barcelona team that started the match without Lionel Messi. Zidane’s future at Real has already come into doubt just months into his tenure, although a result over this mighty Barca side would put a signature win on his resume.

The timing of this match could benefit Real Madrid, as they could catch a tired Barcelona side coming back from the international break. While nearly every player on each team was away on national team duty, Barca’s top trio of Messi-Suarez-Neymar all had long trips to South America, while most of Real stayed in Europe.
