Arsenal didn’t start off the new Premier League season with the best result, and Arsene Wenger received even worse news following their 4-3 defeat against Liverpool.

Midfielder Aaron Ramsey was substituted off for the Gunners just after the hour mark after picking up a hamstring injury, and now, the 25-year-0ld is expected to miss at least one month.

In addition to missing time with the Gunners, Ramsey will also be unavailable for Wales’ World Cup Qualifying match against Moldova on Sept. 5.

The absence of Ramsey really presents an issue for Wenger, who is now very limited with his options in the central midfield. Despite starting on Sunday, Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin aren’t regular first XI players for the Gunners, however, Wenger will be hoping that Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere can play more minutes as they regain full fitness.

Arsenal is currently seeking another option at forward to compliment or potentially replace Olivier Giroud, however, the Gunner could now shift their gears to midfield as well to establish a viable back-up plan for Ramsey.

Given Ramsey’s injury history, it’s likely a smart move for Arsenal to add another body in the midfield. While the Welshman has been extremely effective when on the pitch, injuries have plagued the creative player throughout his professional career.
