According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Queens Park Rangers owner Tony Fernandes may be looking towards the future, and with just one win in seven games, the future may be an attempt to avoid relegation.
The report says manager Harry Redknapp may not have much time to save his job, with former England boss Glenn Hoddle currently on the QPR coaching staff and prepared to take over.
It says Fernandes isn’t prepared to pull the trigger just yet, but it’s in the back of his mind and dates with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City are three of their next four fixtures.
It’s certainly possible that if QPR doesn’t get the maximum against Aston Villa - the only upcoming QPR opponent not a heavyweight - Redknapp could be in some very hot water.
We saw last year how a recent addition to the coaching staff eventually made an impact in the Premier League managerial scene when Fulham hired Rene Meulensteen as an assistant to Martin Jol just weeks before they sacked Jol and made Meulensteen the head man.
Redknapp has weathered much with QPR, trusted with the club by Fernandes even after relegation two years ago, and he rewarded the faith by bringing them straight back up to the top flight. However, keeping them there is a whole different story.
Other potential candidates aside from Hoddle could include Les Ferdinand or Tim Sherwood, whom the report named, but it says Hoddle would be the top target.
