The hits keep coming for Sunderland, as Jan Kirchhoff has suffered another injury.

The ex-Bayern Munich man missed the first four matches of the Premier League season with a hamstring injury, and is now set to miss much more time.

Kirchhoff, 26, joined Sunderland from Bayern Munich last season, and his versatility as a center back and defensive midfielder helped the Black Cats survive the drop under Sam Allardyce.

Just four matches into his return from injury, Sunderland will have to again adjust to life without the giant German.

From SAFC.com:

The former Bayern Munich player was stretchered off in Saturday’s game at the Stadium of Light, and in order to assess the extent of the injury the 26-year-old underwent a scan which revealed he will be out for six to eight weeks.

David Moyes used Jack Rodwell at defensive mid, once combining him with John O’Shea, while Kirchhoff was out. Look for Didier N’Dong to play further back in the XI and, with Adnan Januzaj also hurt, this could mean more minutes for USMNT call-up Lynden Gooch.
