Over and over again, a thousand times “YES!!!” to these types of series that are, at least in part, a byproduct of the College Football Playoff that won’t officially debut for a little over three months.
In the latest series announced by high-profile football programs, Texas A&M and Notre Dame have confirmed that an agreement on a future home-and-home series has been reached. The Irish will travel to College Station on Aug. 31, 2024, while the Aggies will head to South Bend Sept. 27, 2025.
ND athletic director Jack Swarbrick said in a statement that the series with A&M reaches the program’s goal of adding another future home-and-home against a team from the SEC.
“These two contests between Notre Dame and Texas A&M figure to be excellent intersectional attractions,” said Swarbrick. “We had set a goal of adding representation from the Southeastern Conference to our future schedules, and we’ve accomplished that with the addition of this series, as well as the one with Georgia.”
Notre Dame is scheduled to play Georgia in 2017 and 2019.
A&M and ND have met five times previously, and just once in the regular season in 2001. That was also the last meeting between the two football programs. The Irish hold a 3-2 all-time edge on the Aggies.
UPDATED 3:27 p.m. ET: And I’ll just throw this out there. Merely for the sake of discussion, of course.
Per copy of July invoice for $150K sent from Texas to Notre Dame, the two schools have canceled their games in 2019 and 2020.
