Two days after speaking to the media about his decision to undergo season-ending surgery and (likely) enter the 2010 NFL draft, Sam Bradford took care of the former portion of his decision, Tulsa World is reporting.
Bradford underwent the 35-minute procedure this morning, which was performed by renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews.
According to Bradford’s father, the surgery was a success.
“Dr. (James) Andrews said it was just as expected,” said Sam’s father, Kent. “It all looked great in the end and everyone seems to feel very good about it.”
Bradford is expected to be released from the hospital in the next 24 hours.
The next step after that for the Oklahoma quarterback is to begin rehabilitation on the shoulder. If he’s made enough progress in the rehab by Jan. 15 -- the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft -- he will make himself available to the NFL’s money.
The initial prognosis for a full recovery is four to six months.
