Buckeyes down one, possibly two starters for game with ‘Canes

And, no, not because of suspensions thank you very much for asking so move along.

Speaking of suspensions, though, the NCAA confirmed Tuesday that a pair of projected starters among the three Ohio State players suspended for the first two games of the season for taking impermissible benefits have been reinstated. Unfortunately, that gain could be somewhat mitigated by the loss of at least one and possibly two starters for their showdown with Miami Saturday.

Defensive coordinator Jim Heacock confirmed Wednesday that starting defensive end Nathan Williams will miss his second straight game Saturday due to an injury sustained in the season-opening win against Akron. Williams underwent arthroscopic knee surgery today and could miss additional game time as he rehabs the injury.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Williams will likely miss the following week’s game against Colorado as well.

Additionally, starting wide receiver Corey Brown is doubtful for the game against the Hurricanes thanks to an ankle injury suffered in the game last weekend against Toledo. Brown is listed as a co-starter with Chris Fields heading into Saturday’s game.

Brown has two receptions for 17 yards on the season.

And, in one more Buckeyes depth chart note, Jordan Hall, one-third of the suspended trio, will start at running back for OSU against the ‘Canes.
