‘Canes, Spartans schedule future home-and-home series

Michigan State and Miami of Florida have not met on a football field since 1989.

Based on a dual announcement by the two schools Wednesday afternoon, that will change. In another ten years.

Be that as it may, the Hurricanes and Spartans announced today that the two schools will meet in a future home-and-home series. The Spartans open the two-game series with Miami on Sept. 26, 2020, in East Lansing and make their first-ever appearance at Sun Life Stadium on Sept. 18, 2021.

“To be the best, you have to play against the best, and over the last 30 years, Miami has been one of the marquee names in college football,” MSU athletic director Mark Hollis said in a statement. “With the second two-year break in the Notre Dame series, it created this opportunity to schedule a home-and-home with a program like Miami that certainly has great national appeal.

“With teams like Notre Dame, West Virginia, Alabama and Miami on our future schedules, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a team in the country that will play a tougher non-conference slate. Our fans can look forward to a lot of special Saturdays in Spartan Stadium, as we bring the top programs in college football to our state.”

“We are committed to continuing our tradition of playing a strong non-conference schedule,” UM AD Kirby Hocutt said. “The University of Miami is excited to announce this series against a very strong Big Ten Conference program. These types of match ups are great for our program and the game of college football.”

Miami leads the all-time series 4-0.
