KIFFIN ‘APOLOGIZES’ FOR DOUCHINESS

Thanks to the wonderful invention known as “Percocet”, I was away from the computer for most of the day yesterday. During that time, Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin apparently issued an apology for the asinine comments he made at a recruiting-wrap-up breakfast yesterday morning. To recap for those who live under a rock -- or under a rock while under the influence of prescription medication -- Kiffin accused Urban Meyer of committing a recruiting violation, a violation that wasn’t as it turned out. Both Florida and the SEC reacted swiftly to the ill-informed accusations, sending out scathing press releases that, in essence, called Kiffin out as a newbie assclown (thank you, Jason Whitlock). That forced Kiffin into what’s expected to be the first of many acts of contrition as he issued an “apology” worthy of a... well... an assclown."I’ve been made aware by the Southeastern Conference that my comments this morning at a breakfast with our donors violated a conference policy. In my enthusiasm for our recruiting class, I made some statements that were meant solely to excite those at the breakfast. I apologize to commissioner Mike Slive and the SEC, including Florida AD Jeremy Foley and coach Urban Meyer. My comments were not intended to offend anyone at the University of Florida."Really? That’s it? You accuse one of the best head coaches in the country of what you perceive as a major violation, get called out for being misinformed, then come back with... THAT?"Oops, my bad” would’ve been just as effective and saved a lot of words that made no sense and meant absolutely nothing anyway. The “apology” served one purpose and one purpose only: to illustrate it’s time to bring a booster seat to the SEC’s big-boy table. At least as far as recruiting is concerned.
