UM students busted for alcohol, pot on Big House turf

Apparently, a handful of Michigan fans were hellbent on getting a very early start on their tailgating activities ahead of the season opener -- and decided to do so on a prime piece of Big House turf for good measure.

According to AnnArbor.com, seven individuals were arrested very early Saturday morning and slapped with various charges after being found to be in possession of alcohol and marijuana on the playing surface of Michigan Stadium. Six of the individuals were UM students, one was a visitor.

All seven, obviously, were charged with unlawful entry. The other charges, per the website, are as follows:

One student was arrested for minor in possession of alcohol, a second student was arrested for an MIP and possession of suspected marijuana and a third student was arrested for failure to provide identification.

The website writes that it is “a time-honored tradition to break into The Big House and run around on the field.”

The Wolverines open the season at home Saturday against Central Michigan.
