  • CLE Relief Pitcher #48
Emmanuel Clase struck out the side in a perfect ninth inning on Tuesday against the Red Sox to collect his seventh save of the season.
Clase was summoned to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and wound up striking out the side in impressive fashion on just 13 pitches (11 strikes). He sat down Jarren Duran, Tyler O’Neill and Wilyer Abreu, all swinging, to preserve the victory. He’s concerted seven of his nine save opportunities this season and boasts a microscopic 0.75 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 13/1 K/BB ratio across 12 innings (12 appearances).
  • PIT Shortstop #15
Oneil Cruz homered, doubled and walked Sunday in leading the Pirates to a 5-3 win over the Rockies.
The double would have been a homer in 24 parks, according to Statcast. Cruz left nothing to chance on the actual homer an at-bat later, sending it 429 feet to right-center. Cruz ended up with two homers and six hard-hit balls in the three-game series against the Rockies.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #26
Bailey Falter gave up three runs over 5 1/3 innings Sunday versus the Rockies.
11 of the 18 balls in play against Falter were hard hit, so the damage could have been worse here. He’s surrendered eight runs in his last two starts, taking his ERA from 3.33 to 4.34. He’s due to face the Cubs in each of his next two outings, assuming that he doesn’t wind up being replaced by Paul Skenes. Quinn Priester seems to be the more likely candidate to be knocked from the rotation at this point.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #51
David Bednar tossed a scoreless ninth for his sixth save Sunday against the Rockies.
This after he picked up a win Saturday. Bednar had allowed runs in three straight outings prior to yesterday. He’ll almost certainly get Monday off now, which could lead to a save chance for Aroldis Chapman.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #18
Ryan Feltner lost to the Pirates after surrendering five runs in 5 2/3 innings on Sunday.
Feltner allowed eight hits, walked none and struck out three. It’s a disappointing result for those who streamed Feltner in weekly leagues, looking to take advantage of his weak schedule. Still, at least those people didn’t pick Trevor Rogers instead.
  • COL First Baseman #12
Sean Bouchard finished 2-for-3 with his first homer and a walk Sunday against the Pirates.
It’s still so bizarre that the Rockies demoted Bouchard in favor of Michael Toglia this spring. Bouchard probably isn’t a long-term starter, but he’s a capable stopgap who, unless March is the only thing at all that mattered, was obviously more deserving of the spot. In 11 games since getting recalled, he’s hit .258/.378/.452. Since he’s just a part-timer — the start today was his first in four games — he’s of little interest in fantasy leagues right now.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #56
Giants recalled RHP Daulton Jefferies from Triple-A Sacramento.
Jefferies had just been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, but he’ll return with Tom Murphy (knee) landing on the injured list prior to Sunday’s contest. The 28-year-old hurler has really struggled in two outings for the Giants this season, posting a miserable 17.36 ERA, 3.43 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio over 4 2/3 innings. He’ll add length in the middle innings for the Giants.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #54
Giants designated RHP Mitch White for assignment.
The Giants were faced with a 40-man roster crunch after losing a pair of catchers to injury, so they needed to free up a spot to add Jakson Reetz on Sunday and White was left as the odd-man out. The 29-year-old right-hander could attract some interest on waivers.
  • SF Catcher #73
Giants selected the contract of C Jakson Reetz from Triple-A Sacramento.
The Giants’ catching depth has been hit hard over the second half of the week, as Patrick Bailey went down with a concussion and Tom Murphy suffered a left knee sprain on Saturday. That leaves Reetz, 28, to serve as the primary backup behind Blake Sabol for the time being. Reetz had been hitting .217/.357/.435 with a pair of homers, nine RBI and an 11/6 K/BB ratio over his first 57 plate appearances.
  • SF Catcher #19
Giants placed C Tom Murphy on the 10-day injured list with a left knee sprain.
As expected, the 33-year-old backstop lands on the injured list after injuring his left knee during Saturday’s battle against the Phillies. With Patrick Bailey (concussion) also shelved, the Giants will rely on Blake Sabol and Jakson Reetz to handle the load behind the plate for the time being. There’s no clear timetable for how long Murphy may be shelved for.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #59
Carlos Carrasco limited the Angels to one run in six innings as the Guardians prevailed 4-1 on Sunday.
Carrasco picked up his second win while lasting six innings for the first time in seven starts this season. He has a 5.67 ERA and a poor 26/17 K/BB ratio through 33 1/3 innings. Next up for him is a start in Chicago against the White Sox.
