  • CHC Relief Pitcher #51
Héctor Neris fired a scoreless ninth to pick up a save Thursday against the Astros.
Neris did make things interesting, as he walked a pair of hitters to put the go-ahead run at the plate. Ultimately the 34-year-old was able to get the job done, and he now has three saves on the season after not opening the year in the closing role.
  • LAA Second Baseman #15
Daniel Álvarez-Montes of El Extrabase reports that the Angels are acquiring Luis Guillorme from the Braves.
The 29-year-old infielder signed a one-year deal with Atlanta in the offseason and only appeared in 10 games for the Braves this season slashing .150/.190/.250 with three RBI. It has not been reported what the Braves are getting in return for Guillorme, but he’ll be additional infield depth for the Angels this season.
  • SF Left Fielder #8
Michael Conforto went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and a walk on Wednesday in an 8-6 win over the Rockies.
Conforto put the Giants on the board with a solo homer off Peter Lambert to lead off the second inning. It was the start of a six-run inning as the Giants hit around the order. Conforto added a base hit later in the same inning, then drew a walk and scored in the seventh. The 31-year-old outfielder is slashing .267/.317/.467 with six homers, 18 runs scored, and 19 RBI across 145 plate appearances.
  • COL Catcher #35
Elias Díaz went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI against the Giants on Wednesday.
Díaz brought a run in to score with a base hit in the fifth inning. With a runner on and two outs in the ninth, he brought the Rockies to within two with a home run off Camilo Doval. The 33-year-old catcher is slashing a solid .303/.354/.435 with three homers and 18 RBI across 127 plate appearances.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #12
Jordan Hicks allowed three runs with five strikeouts over five innings in a win over the Rockies on Wednesday.
After a clean first inning, a triple and a wild pitch brought the first run in to score for the Rockies in the second. Hicks ran into more trouble in the fifth, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk. His day was done after five frames on 92 pitches. He struck out five. The 27-year-old right-hander has enjoyed an early breakout as a starter, posting a 2.30 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 35/16 K/BB ratio across 43 innings. Hicks will take on the Dodgers in San Francisco on Monday.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #20
Peter Lambert allowed seven runs over three innings in a loss to the Giants on Wednesday.
Lambert’s outing lasted just three innings as he was hit for seven runs. Six of those runs came in the second, starting with a solo homer by Michael Conforto to lead off the frame. The Giants would bat around the order before Lambert could escape the inning. Two hits in the third would bring in a seventh run. Lambert ends the day with a 7.61 ERA, 1.69 WHIP, and a 20/9 K/BB ratio across 23 2/3 innings. He lines up for a start against the Padres in San Diego on Monday.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #24
    Rangers released LHP Danny Duffy.
The 35-year-old southpaw had been stationed at Triple-A Round Rock where he posted a 5.50 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and a 17/17 K/BB ratio over 18 innings. Duffy hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2021 season with the Royals. It’s unclear if he has another opportunity lined up already, or if he even plans on seeking one.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #44
Rangers signed RHP Kyle Barraclough to a minor league contract.
The 33-year-old hurler has never started a game in his big league career, with all 291 of his appearances coming out of the bullpen, but he did start 13 games at Triple-A Worcester for the Red Sox in 2023 with a decent amount of success. He also started both of his appearances this season with the High Point Rockers of the independent Atlantic League. Perhaps the Rangers are viewing him as extra rotation depth. He’ll report to Triple-A Round Rock.
  • BAL First Baseman #6
Ryan Mountcastle slugged a two-run homer in the 11th inning on Wednesday night, helping to propel the Orioles to a wild 7-6 victory over the Nationals in 12 innings.
With one out left to get in the ninth inning, the Orioles had a comfortable 3-1 lead, then insanity ensued. Neither team scored in the 10th inning, then Mountcastle clobbered a 386-foot (98.8 mph EV) two-run shot off of Hunter Harvey in the 11th that gave the O’s a two-run lead. The Nationals would answer in their half of the 11th. The O’s then pushed two runs across in the 12th and allowed just one to escape with a victory. Mountcastle finished the night 1-for-5 and is now hitting .277/.324/.485 with six long balls and 18 RBI on the year.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #71
Jacob Webb nailed down his second save of the season on Wednesday night, allowing just an unearned run to score in the 12th inning against the Nationals.
In a wild back-and-forth affair, Webb was the one who finally calmed things down and put an end to it in the 12th. He allowed a leadoff double to Luis Garcia Jr. that played the inherited runner, then retired the next three hitters in succession to end it. On the season, Webb now holds a 1.65 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and a 20/5 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings. With Craig Kimbrel on the ropes, Webb doesn’t look like a bad speculative add in deeper formats until the O’s get their bullpen straightened out.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #46
Craig Kimbrel suffered his third blown save of the season on Wednesday night, giving up two runs on a hit and two walks while recording just two outs.
The 35-year-old right-hander has not pitched well since dealing with back soreness, and perhaps the Orioles want to consider a stint on the injured list to sit him down and get him right. Kimbrel came on with a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning of this one and got the first two hitters in order, but then served up a solo homer to Eddie Rosario and then walked a pair of batters before turning the ball over to Keegan Akin who allowed a game-tying RBI single to CJ Abrams. Kimbrel now sports an unappealing 4.73 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 21/9 K/BB ratio over 13 1/3 innings of work on the season.
