  • CHC First Baseman #29
Michael Busch went 3-for-4 with a double and a sac fly against the Red Sox on Friday.
Busch didn’t hit the ball very well tonight, but he hit it to all of the right spots. His double, which barely qualified as a hard-hit ball at 95.1 mph, would have been an out if not for the Green Monster. One of his other hits was a dribbler down the third base line that just would not go foul. Busch will take it; he came into this one 0-for-15 with nine strikeouts in his previous four games.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher #47
Guardians acquired RHP Darren McCaughan from the Marlins for cash considerations.
McCaughan heads to Cleveland as extra organizational relief depth after being jettisoned last weekend from Miami’s 40-man roster. The 28-year-old righty has made six relief appearances in the majors since 2021.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #32
Guardians transferred RHP Gavin Williams to the 60-day injured list.
Nothing has changed with Williams from a return timetable standpoint as the procedural move merely clears up a spot on Cleveland’s 40-man roster for newly-acquired reliever Darren McCaughan. The 24-year-old righty has been on the shelf since spring training due to right elbow inflammation, but was able to resume a throwing program last week following a brief setback. There’s a chance he’s ready to return at some point next month.
  • SF Center Fielder #51
Jung Hoo Lee is not in the starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Rockies due to a sore foot.
Lee was hit in the foot after he fouled off a ball on Wednesday, so the 25-year-old will take the day off to get right. The rookie outfielder is slashing .262/.310/.331 with two homers and eight RBI across 145 plate appearances this season.
  • ATL Shortstop #18
Braves acquired INF Zack Short from the Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations.
Short was recently designated for assignment, but he’ll now head to Atlanta in a trade. The 28-year-old has appeared in 12 games this season, 10 with the Mets and two with the Red Sox, and has just one hit in his 19 plate appearances.
  • Relief Pitcher #41
Matt Barnes declined his outright assignment to Triple-A and is now a free agent.
Barnes will look to see if another club will give him a shot after he declined his option to Triple-A. The 33-year-old has allowed 10 earned runs in 13 1/3 innings of work this season with the Nationals.
  • LAA Second Baseman #15
Angels acquired INF Luis Guillorme from the Braves in exchange for a player to be named later.
The trade is now official. Guillorme is an outstanding defender, but doesn’t offer much from an offensive standpoint. The 29-year-old figures to occupy a versatile bench role for Los Angeles moving forward.
  • WAS Relief Pitcher #41
Nationals outright RHP Matt Barnes to Triple-A Rochester.
Barnes cleared waivers and he’ll stay within the Nationals organization at the Triple-A level. The 33-year-old has posted a 6.75 ERA, 1.50 WHIP with a 10/4 K/BB ratio across 13 1/3 innings this season with Washington.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #57
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Eduardo Rodgriguez (lat) is close to beginning a throwing program.
Good news for the 31-year-old hurler. Lovullo also added that an MRI on Rodriguez’s lat is healing, but he’s still likely a month or so away from making his season debut.
  • LAA Third Baseman #6
Angels transferred Anthony Rendon (hamstring) to the 60-day injured list.
The 33-year-old veteran will miss an extended period of time after he suffered a hamstring injury a few weeks ago. The Angels are reportedly bringing in Luis Guillorme so it looks like he’ll take some reps at the hot corner as well as Miguel Sano, Luis Rengifo and Ehire Adrianza.
  • LAA Second Baseman #15
Daniel Álvarez-Montes of El Extrabase reports that the Angels are acquiring Luis Guillorme from the Braves.
The 29-year-old infielder signed a one-year deal with Atlanta in the offseason and only appeared in 10 games for the Braves this season slashing .150/.190/.250 with three RBI. It has not been reported what the Braves are getting in return for Guillorme, but he’ll be additional infield depth for the Angels this season.
