  • DET Third Baseman #40
Tigers optioned INF Buddy Kennedy to Triple-A Toledo.
Kennedy heads down to the minors after the team activated Andy Ibáñez from the injured list. The 25-year-old posted a .808 OPS in his six games played with Detroit where he racked up four RBI this season.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #33
Dane Dunning (shoulder) will start on Wednesday against the Phillies.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy confirmed late Tuesday that Dunning will be activated to take the ball in Philadelphia following a quick two-week absence due to a right shoulder strain.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #35
Adrian Houser allowed six runs on six hits in five innings in a loss to the Guardians on Tuesday.
Houser struck out four and walked one on the night. He posted a 24 percent whiff rate and 26 percent CSW on the night and showed off some improved velocity, throwing 2.3 mph faster on his sinker and 2.7 mph faster on his slider. Despite allowing six hits, he only allowed four hard-hit baseballs on the day; it just so happened that all of them went for extra bases. Houser is now sporting a 7.88 ERA on the season and should the Mets continue to keep him in the rotation over Jose Butto, he’ll get the Dodgers in his next start. You don’t want any part of that.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #16
Yusei Kikuchi allowed two earned runs over six innings in the Blue Jays’ loss to the White Sox.
Kikuchi was fine for much of the evening but gave up a two-RBI single to Corey Julks in the fifth inning, which looked like a devastating blow to a Blue Jays offense that managed just two hits on the night. Kikuchi’s record sits at 2-3 on the year despite a solid 2.64 ERA. The Jays entered the day as one of the worst run-scoring offenses in the league, making wins hard to come by for Kikuchi, who has yet to earn a win in May despite allowing just six earned runs over 24 1/3 innings on the month. He’ll have one more chance to get a win in May when he makes the start against the Tigers on Sunday.
  • CWS Left Fielder #30
Corey Julks went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a steal in Tuesday’s win over the Blue Jays.
Julks laced a two-RBI single in the fifth inning off Yusei Kikuchi to give the White Sox a 3-0 lead, and has now hit safely in three of his first four games this season. Julks was called up from Triple-A Charlotte last week after the White Sox acquired him in a trade just days before. Julks has now homered and driven in three runs, and should continue getting opportunities as long as he stays hot.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #53
Braves re-signed RHP Jackson Stephens to a minor league contract.
As expected, Stephens is back in the fold with Atlanta as extra relief depth. The 30-year-old righty made just three appearances earlier this season for the Braves before being designated for assignment earlier this month.
  • ARI Left Fielder #27
Diamondbacks signed INF/OF Matt Beaty to a minor league contract.
Beaty got into 30 games last year between Kansas City and San Francisco. The 31-year-old is capable of handling multiple defensive positions and had some success earlier in his career as a righty-mashing platoon option.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #45
Garrett Crochet pitched six scoreless innings while striking out four in the White Sox win over the Blue Jays.
You couldn’t have asked for a much better outing out of Crochet. While it wasn’t a dominating performance, the lefty held the Blue Jays’ lineup to just two hits, while walking only one batter. Crochet continues to be one of the few bright spots for the White Sox, as he’s now won five games on the season and is sporting an era of 3.75. Crochet will look to earn his sixth win in his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Orioles.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher #44
Xzavion Curry allowed two runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings in a no decision against the Mets on Tuesday.
Curry didn’t even know he was starting until a few hours before the game when Carlos Carrasco was unable to pitch due to neck spasms. Curry responded with four shutout innings and only three hits allowed to start the game. After striking out Starling Marte to start the fifth inning, things started to go awry with four straight hits, including a home run to Mrk Vientos. “He looked like he got a little tired in the fifth and started to lose his command a little bit,” said Guardians manager Stephen Vogt. Given how short notice this start was, getting a 23 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW is a solid performance; however, it’s unclear if Curry will get another opportunity in the near future or not.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #63
Cubs signed RHP Trey Supak to a minor league contract.
Supak finds himself back in affiliated ball following a strong four-start stretch for the Charleston Dirty Birds of the independent Atlantic League. The 27-year-old righty spent last year in the upper levels of Oakland’s minor league system and has yet to appear in the big leagues. He’s merely extra organizational depth.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #72
    Royals released RHP Zach Davies.
Davies latched on with Kansas City back in early April on a minor league pact, but never wound up making it back to the majors. The soft-tossing 31-year-old righty will head back to the open market in search of a new opportunity.
