  • TB Shortstop #7
Jose Caballero stole four bases and scored three runs without recording a hit Sunday against the Mets.
Only against the Mets. Caballero walked three times today and also got a steal as the automatic runner in the 10th inning. He’s just the second player this millennium to steal four bases without getting a hit; Everth Cabrera did so for the Padres in 2012. Caballero leads the AL with 13 steals in 18 tries this season.
  • PHI Shortstop #7
Trea Turner (hamstring) was able to run at a higher intensity on Saturday as he continues to work his way back from a left hamstring strain.
If he feels alright on Sunday, he could soon progress to actually running on the bases. He’ll still need to take swings against live pitching and play in at least some simulated games before he’ll be ready to rejoin the Phillies’ lineup, but he continues to make much quicker progress than originally anticipated.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #59
Jeffrey Springs was pulled from Saturday’s minor league rehab start after only one batter due to tightness in his left shoulder.
The Rays are going to take every possible precaution with Springs as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery, so this could simply be a case of them being overly cautious. That being said, expect him to get a full evaluation to see what’s going on. The Rays should have an update on his status within the next couple of days.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #51
David Bednar worked around two hits to get a save with a scoreless inning against Atlanta on Saturday.
Bednar put the tying run at the plate in the form of Ronald Acuña Jr., but he was able to get Acuña Jr. to hit into a fielder’s choice. The 29-year-old has had his share of struggles in 2024, but he was able to lower his ERA to 6.75 while picking up his 11th save.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #23
Mitch Keller gave up just one run over 6 1/3 innings in a win over Atlanta on Saturday.
Keller, 28, scattered six hits with four strikeouts against no free passes. The right-hander allowed an RBI single to Jarred Kelenic, but that was it in terms of scoring plays while he was on the bump. Keller has been excellent in May while allowing just four runs over his four starts, and he’s scheduled to begin June with an outing against the Blue Jays next Saturday.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #40
Reynaldo López went 4 2/3 innings and gave up three runs — two earned — in a start Saturday against the Pirates.
Lopez gave up five hits with one walk while striking out three. The right-hander allowed an RBI single in the third, and two more runs scored on a Nick Gonzales double. Even with a shaky outing, the 30-year-old still has a sensational 1.75 ERA on the season. He’s scheduled to fact the Nationals at home Thursday.
  • TB Second Baseman #62
Jonathan Aranda doubled and homered in an extra-innings loss to the Royals on Saturday.
Aranda blistered a solo homer off Brady Singer for his first roundtripper of the season. The double was the second. Aranda missed six weeks with a broken right finger, and his slash of .242/.324/.394 is likely to see a bump as he sees more regular playing time over the summer. That doesn’t necessarily make him a strong fantasy addition, however.
  • KC Left Fielder #17
Nelson Velazquez homered and doubled in the Royals’ 7-4 win over the Rays in extra innings Saturday.
Velazquez got Kansas City on the board with a solo homer in the second inning off Aaron Civale. Nine innings later, the 25-year-old outfielder doubled in the go-ahead run in the 11th to make it 5-4. Velasquez has gone deep five times with just 16 RBI so far in 2024, but Saturday was a nice day for the right-handed hitter.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #63
Nick Anderson locked down a save by working a scoreless inning Saturday against the Rays.
Anderson fired a scoreless 11th for his first save of 2024, and the first as a member of the Royals. The 33-year-old didn’t allow a hit while issuing one walk and picking up a strikeout. Anderson will likely continue to work in the mid-innings, and isn’t likely to see more save chances in the near future.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #51
Brady Singer accumulated five innings while allowing two runs — one earned — in a start against the Rays on Saturday.
Singer’s results were fine, but he had to work hard for them while throwing 90 pitches. He walked two and struck out three, with the only earned run coming on a Jonathan Aranda homer. The 27-year-old now has a 2.63 ERA and 64/19 K/BB over his 11 starts, and he’ll look to keep the good run going with a scheduled outing with the Twins on Thursday.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #34
Aaron Civale worked five innings while allowing two earned runs in a no-decision Saturday against the Royals.
Civale gave up a solo homer to Nelson Velazquez in the second, and an inning later an RBI single to Bobby Witt Jr. Outside of those frames the right-hander was solid while walking two and striking out five against the quality KC lineup. Civale had been awful in May with a 7.32 ERA for his troubles, but this might be the start that gets the 28-year-old on the right track. A chance to build on this is scheduled for Friday, but it’ll come against the daunting Baltimore lineup.
