This is a bit of a surprise. The Brewers needed to make a roster move for Christian Yelich and the team decided to send down Black. The 23-year-old had three hits in his first two games with the Brewers, but had just two hits in his past five games. He’ll head back down to Triple-A, but there’s a good chance he gets another opportunity with Milwaukee this season.

Keller was obliterated in his start against the Yankees on Saturday, giving up six runs (five earned) over four innings — including four home runs. It’s not immediately clear who the White Sox will turn to in order to replace Keller in their rotation.

No word yet on what the corresponding move could be, or where exactly Vazquez will see his action on the Cubs’ infield, but we’ll know more on Monday. The 24-year-old has hit .270/.369/.409 with three homers, 11 RBI and one stolen base (in three attempts) over 38 games at Triple-A Iowa this season.

Diamondbacks’ skipper Torey Lovullo told reporters after Sunday’s win over the Tigers that Joe Mantiply will serve as the opener on Monday — giving him a chance to face both Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman in the opening inning. Not that Cecconi is a recommended streaming option against the Dodgers, but his chances of earning a victory do improve slightly working as the bulk guy out of the bullpen rather than starting.

Pederson got the scoring started with an RBI double off of Matt Manning in the home half of the first inning. He also smacked a run-scoring single in the second inning — extending the Diamondbacks’ lead to 3-0. With his three-hit attack, the 32-year-old slugger is now hitting a robust .317/.421/.558 with five homers, 12 RBI and one stolen base on the season.

With the game tied in the 10th, Ohtani laced a 100.3 mph single off of Alexis Diaz to score Jason Heyward and give the Dodgers the win. It was Ohtani’s 33rd RBI of the season to go along with a stellar .353/.423/.658 triple slash. He was likely underdrafted in fantasy leagues because he was listed at just UTIL in most formats.

The 33-year-old hurler picked up his third save of the season for his efforts. He made it look awfully easy in this one, needing just 10 pitches (nine strikes) to get Wenceel Perez on a fly ball, Spencer Torkelson on strikes and Javier Baez on a pop out to second base to end it. On the season, Sewald now holds a 1.80 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and a 5/1 K/BB ratio across his first five innings of work.

After a tremendous first game of the series, De La Cruz finished the final three games against the Dodgers going 0-for-13 with eight strikeouts. He’s off to an absurd start to the season with 30 stolen bases and nine home runs in 47 games; however, he has started to give back some of his early plate discipline gains. De La Cruz now has 26 strikeouts to just five walks in May while going 14-for-65 at the plate for a .215 average. He’s an electric fantasy player and not somebody you’d ever take out of your lineup, but the 22-year-old remains a work in progress as far as his approach at the plate goes. While that gives him scary good upside, it also means that you should be ready for some prolonged cold streaks as well.

The left-hander struck out three batters on the afternoon while issuing a pair of free passes. He served up a solo homer to Spencer Torkelson in the third inning, then kept the Tigers at bat until an RBI single by Javier Baez in the fifth. They tacked on another run in the sixth inning, then Montgomery issued a leadoff walk in the seventh before exiting, and that run came around to score as well. He got eight whiffs on 92 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll look to improve upon his 4.98 ERA and 1.37 WHIP when he toes the slab against the Marlins on Saturday.

The 24-year-old slugger got the Tigers on the board in the third inning, crushing a 428-foot (106.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Jordan Montgomery in the third inning. He also reached on a fielder’s choice in the seventh inning and scored on an RBI triple off the bat of Kerry Carpenter that was nearly an inside-the-park home run. Torkelson finished the afternoon 1-for-4 and is now hitting .227/.291/.360 with three long balls and 17 RBI.

The right-hander also issued three walks on the day while recording only one strikeout. Woof. The Diamondbacks scratched out a pair of runs in the opening inning, then tacked on single runs in the second and fourth despite a parade of baserunners throughout the game. Manning got just four swings and misses on 86 pitches on the afternoon, posting a minuscule CSW of 21 percent. He’ll carry a 4.88 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and a 23/12 K/BB ratio (27 2/3 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the Blue Jays.
