Blue Jays reliever Aaron Loup has missed the last two games due to a personal family matter, but Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports that he’s expected to be back for Game 6 of the ALCS against the Royals on Friday.
The Blue Jays had to play a man short while Loup was away from the team. As Craig Calcaterra noted yesterday, there’s no bereavement leave during the playoffs.
Loup has been functioning as the lone left-hander in Toronto’s bullpen since Brett Cecil went down with a torn left calf muscle during the ALDS. Cecil is hoping to make it back if the Blue Jays advance to the World Series.
Loup, 27, posted a 4.46 ERA and 46/7 K/BB ratio over 42 1/3 innings during the regular season. He has allowed one run in two innings over four appearances during the postseason.
