Diamondbacks place Zack Greinke on the disabled list with a strained oblique

The Diamondbacks have placed starter Zack Greinke on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique, the club announced on Sunday. Outfielder Rickie Weeks, Jr. has been activated from the bereavement list.

Greinke suffered the injury last week against the Phillies, He took the mound to warm up ahead of the third inning, but called the team trainer out and left the game. This is Greinke’s first stint on the disabled list since he suffered a broken collarbone in a brawl with Carlos Quentin in April 2013.

Greinke, 32, heads to the disabled list with a 10-3 record, a 3.62 ERA and a 91/21 K/BB ratio in 109 1/3 innings. He’s in the first year of a six-year $206.5 million contract with the D-Backs.
