Ike Davis will spend the next three weeks in a walking boot

New York Mets v Colorado Rockies

So much for Ike Davis’ speedy recovery.

The Mets just announced that he’ll wear a walking boot on his injured ankle/foot for at least the next three weeks, meaning he’s likely more than a month away from potentially returning from the disabled list.

Davis was unable to run three weeks after suffering the injury on May 10, so after getting a second opinion and an MRI exam he’s been shut down with what manager Terry Collins called an “inverted sprain.” Previously the Mets have called it a “bone bruise.”

Whatever the case, the news isn’t good and Daniel Murphy will get an extended look as the Mets’ primary first baseman.
