ESPN’s Jim Bowden reports that the Marlins are in the hunt for free agent starter James Shields. He also writes that the Marlins are hopeful that Dan Haren changes his mind about wanting to pitch only on the West coast, and shows up to spring training for the Fish.
Shields will likely have to wait until Max Scherzer signs before his market develops, though a handful of teams have been linked to him so far this off-season. The Red Sox, Giants, and Yankees have had interest at one point or another.
