Matt Adams is out of the Cardinals’ lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Rockies due to lingering tightness in his left oblique, according to Stan McNeal of FOX Sports Midwest. It’s something that Adams has been dealing with for much of this month. He’s just 7-for-41 (.189) since August 31.
Daniel Descalso will start at first base as St. Louis tries to complete a three-game sweep of Colorado.
The first-place Cardinals currently have a 3 1/2 game lead over the second-place Pirates and a five-game lead over the third-place Brewers in the National League Central standings.
