Red Sox’ catcher/1B Ryan Lavarnway just got called up to the bigs the other day and figured to provide John Farrell with a nice right-handed bat off the bench and some depth at first base. Welp, forget that:
Lavarnway has broken hamate bone in left wrist. Surgery being scheduled. Out 4-6 weeks at minimum. #RedSoxTalk

Lavarnway only got four big league games under his belt. Now, after a rehab, you figure he’ll be back in the minors. Tough break.
