Last week, Reds first baseman Joey Votto chastised a fan sitting in the front row who had asked for his batting gloves:

Prior to that, Votto had stomped on a paper airplane and faked Phillies fans out who wanted a foul ball.
On Tuesday night, Votto went after a foul ball hit to the right side by Stephen Piscotty. Votto appeared to have it lined up, but he bumped into a fan who was also trying to catch the ball. In the fan’s defense, he wasn’t reaching onto the field of play so he was within his right to attempt to catch it.
Votto, however, wasn’t pleased. He stared at the fan, and then pulled at the fan’s shirt which had a Reds logo as if to remind the fan, “I’m on your side.”

After the inning, Votto hugged the fan and signed a ball for him. It appears to say, “Thanks for being so understanding when I acted out of character.”

Votto hasn’t seemed malicious as he usually flashes a grin after trolling. At any rate, he seems to be embracing his heel turn.
