Teams of Truex, Jimmie Johnson receive third written warnings after Kansas

The teams of Martin Truex Jr. and Jimmie Johnson each received their third warning last weekend at Kansas Speedway, leaving them one away from losing pit selection for a race.

They were among five Sprint Cup teams issued warnings at Kansas.

The cars of Truex and Aric Almirola failed pre-qualifying laser inspection.

The cars of Johnson, Almirola, Regan Smith and AJ Allmendinger failed pre-qualifying template inspection twice. The two warnings for Almirola’s team are its first of the year. Regan Smith’s team has two warnings and Allmendinger’s has one.

Carl Edwards’ team is the only other one to have received three warnings. Johnson’s team has received warnings in three consecutive race weekends at Richmond, Talladega and Kansas.
