Anthony Davis missed the All-Star Game because a few games earlier he suffered a shoulder sprain from when he fell awkwardly on his right shoulder after an impressive dunk.

He came back for the Pelicans after the break as they try to make a playoff push, but Saturday night he appears to have aggravated that shoulder injury. He had made a couple offensive rebounds, one right over the top of Hassan Whiteside, then Davis went back into Whiteside looking for contact as he got a shot up, and that appears to have done it.

The Pelicans released this statement.

This happened against a Miami team that lost it’s star big man for the year today, Chris Bosh is out with blood clots on his lungs.

The Pelicans are not near the same team without Davis, if he is out for any extended period of time their already longshot playoff hopes would be dashed.
