The Nets announced that Brook Lopez underwent surgery to replace a screw in his right foot, which was previously surgically repaired, and that he should be ready to resume basketball activities in August.

The bent screw was discovered in Lopez’s postseason physical, and was “subsequently replaced,” which was as specific as the release was about when the procedure was completed. The release, which was issued by Nets general manager Billy King, said he should resume basketball-related activity in August, which will likely mean he’ll be fully recovered by the start of training camp on October 1.
Lopez had two surgeries on the same right foot during the 2011-12 season, but was healthy and one of the better players at his position last year, when he appeared in 74 of the team’s 82 regular season games.
Lopez averaged 19.4 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocked shots in 30.4 minutes per game, while making his first All-Star appearance and helping the Nets reach the playoffs for the first time since 2007.
