Kristaps Porzingis wins Latvian Athlete of the Year, family accepts via song (VIDEO)

Kristaps Porzingis is one of the best young players in the NBA, and has even been dubbed “The Unicorn” by Kevin Durant, a nickname that has caught on.

Now, Porzingis has been named the 2016 Latvian Athlete of the Year.

This honor was bestowed upon Porzingis back in Latvia during the annual Latvijas Gada Balva Sportā today.

However, Porzingis was in Florida helping the New York Knicks beat the Orlando Magic, 106-95, so he couldn’t accept the award in person.

Instead, Porzingis’ grandmother, great-aunt, and two other aunts accepted the award for him by singing a song about him on stage while wrapped in color-coordinated shawls.

Pretty incredible to see, and the video is closed captioned so you can understand what they’re singing. The lyrics, according to the captions, read as:

What we would like to wish our Porzingis tonight, tonight,
Wish you good health and all of the work gets easily done,
All those jealous sights should stay away from you,
All the glory and fame for Kristaps while living in America,
God give Kristaps opportunity to stay at such a high level for a long, long time.

Congrats to Porzingis and his family.
