The NBA has admitted today what everybody watching the game realized last night -- C.J. Miles fouled Kevin Durant on the finals shot in overtime of Utah’s one point win against Oklahoma City.
Joel Litvin, NBA President, League and Basketball Operations, released this statement:
“On the final play of last night’s Oklahoma City-Utah game, the officials
missed a foul committed by the Jazz’s C.J. Miles on the Thunder’s Kevin
Durant during a three-point shot attempt.”
After the outcry -- and even the Salt Lake City broadcasters calling it a foul -- the league really had no choice but to admit this.
But that’s about it. This statement and $4 will buy Durant a nice soy latte to soothe his wounds. The league is not going to actually do anything about the call. So the West has a potentially big swing in its tight standings based on a bad call. The NBA, It’s Fantastic!
