With next year’s New York Super Bowl landing on February 2, followed quickly by the 2014 Sochi Olympics from February 7 to 23, the Oscars have officially pushed back next year’s ceremony until March 2, to avoid any conflict with the events.
Of course, this isn’t really news: The same thing happened in 2006 and 2010. It also won’t end anytime soon, since the 2018 PyeongChang Games will go from February 9 to 25. But that said, between the BCS, the Golden Globes, the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the Oscars, March Madness, and finally the Masters, I probably won’t leave my TV until roughly mid-April next year.
