The Gunners have had a mixed start to the season and have four points from their opening three matches of the new campaign and speaking ahead of their game at Newcastle on Saturday (watch live, 7:45 a.m. ET on NBCSN and online via Live Extra), Wenger is hopeful he can bring in some new faces.
With many calling for Wenger to add a new striker and defensive midfielder to his ranks, these words may be encouraging for Arsenal’s fans as many believe the North London club are just a few pieces away from seriously challenging for the title.
Wenger was then asked about the transfer window shutting earlier this year, 1 p.m. ET compared to 7 p.m. ET on Deadline Day in the past. Is that a bad thing and will the European window shutting the day before the British transfer window make a difference?
“Maybe yes, before you had until midnight. It was a little bit easier because of the negotiations but people adapt to the timing,” Wenger added. “The implication [of the window shutting earlier in Europe] is that the last day we will be the only ones on the market and not face any competition with the others. I am not saying anymore.”

Understandably, Wenger is keeping his cards close to his chest as a pivotal point in negotiations and any potential transfer deals approaches. With Karim Benzema seemingly ruling out a move to the Emirates after declaring his happiness at Real Madrid, reports suggest Edinson Cavani and Aleksandr Kokorin could both make a late move to the Gunners.
In the past Arsenal signed Mesut Ozil in a huge deal on Deadline Day. Are we about to see another stunning late move from Wenger?
