West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino has announced he will not be taking legal action against a team-mate following an incident last weekend when the 20-year-old was allegedly punched.
The incident occurred in the locker room following West Brom’s 3-3 draw with Cardiff City. The altercation allegedly occurred when James Morrison punched Berahino in the face following his decision to go towards goal rather than the corner flag with West Brom up 3-2 in injury time. Berahino’s errant pass was stolen and fired forward where Mats Daehli scored the equalizer.
The incident had Berahino feeling as if the club failed to support him and reports leaked that a legal action could be brought against Morrison. The Baggies played down the incident and issued a statement on Wednesday with Berahino declaring: “I am not taking legal action against any team-mate. I am only focusing on Saturday’s game at Norwich.”
Now former West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie, who had a bitter fall-out with the club following a botched transfer to QPR in January 2013, has come out on a social network site to urge Berahino to leave the club.
“I see a repeat of my situation if he doesn’t leave this summer. Senior pros ha ha,” Odemwingie wrote.
West Brom currently sit 17th in the table, three above the drop, and travel to 15th place Norwich City for a match on Saturday.
