Louis van Gaal says Marouane Fellaini will play as a striker for Manchester United
Throughout the summer, everyone has been waiting for Manchester United to buy a high-profile striker.
A top goalscorer is thought the be the missing piece to push the Red Devils into a major title challenge, but with the transfer window closing in one week, the club is yet to make a move.
Is that because Louis van Gaal thinks Marouane Fellaini is the man for the job?

United has only scored two goals in three Premier League games this season, as Fellaini has yet to feature in the league while serving a suspension from last season.
However, Fellaini did come on as a substitute in the Red Devils’ 3-1 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League, and he scored after just ten minutes on the pitch.
According to LVG, the big Belgian will continue to play in striker role throughout the season, rather to playing in the midfield as he has for most of his career.
He can play in a nine position and a 10.
He can also play at six and eight, but this year he shall play more at nine and 10 because there we have other players.”
After struggling to find consistent minutes in the midfield last season, Fellaini began to play higher up the formation as a target man, as his 6-foot-5-inch frame isn’t hard to find in the box.

United is a squad that lacks size up front, as the likes of Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Memphis Depay won’t be winning many aerial challenges anytime soon.
Fellaini has proven he can be a threat in the box, but is he really the answer to United’s scoring problems? The transfer window closes on September 1, and I don’t think LVG is done doing business.
