Roma striker Juan Iturbe is set to sign for Watford in the January transfer window as the Hornets have climbed to seventh on the Premier League table.

According to Sky Sports, Iturbe is in England to finalize a loan deal for the rest of the season, with an option to make the move permanent in the summer. The 22-year-old striker joined Roma in 2014 for nearly $25 million but has struggled in the Italian capital, scoring just one goal on the season.

With the Iturbe deal likely to go through, questions have been raised about Odion Ighalo’s future at Watford in the midst of a breakout campaign. Ighalo scored twice against Liverpool over the weekend to bring his tally to 12 on the season, good for fourth in the Premier League. After scoring 20 goals in the Championship last season, Ighalo’s form has attracted some interest from clubs throughout Europe, and Watford has already reportedly received a large bid from China. However, manager Quique Sanchez Flores is keen to keep his top scorer, and said he believes Ighalo will finish out this season with the Hornets.

Sunderland are reportedly looking into a move for Bayern Munich center-back Jan Kirchhoff. The 25-year-old has failed to find any minutes under Pep Guardiola, and German news outlet Kicker reported that Sam Allardyce and Sunderland scouts traveled to Munich to watch Kirchhoff train. It would be a huge boost if Big Sam could get a deal done in January, as the Black Cats have conceded a league-high 33 goals this season.

In Italy, Kevin Prince-Boateng is set to return to his former club AC Milan. The 28-year-old has not played since being released by Schalke last May, as his career has been hampered by some attitude and off-the-field issues. Boateng made 100 appearances from 2010-2013 with Milan, and has also played in the Premier League with Tottenham and Portsmouth.
