The 21-year-old spent last season on loan as well, when United shipped the young Belgian off to Borussia Dortmund. Januzaj made 12 appearances for the German Bundesliga runners’ up across all competitions.
After coming up through United’s academy, Januzaj has made 50 appearances for the Red Devils since debuting with the senior team in 2013.
New Sunderland boss David Moyes previously coached Januzaj three years ago in his lone season at United, and becomes the manager’s third signing of the summer.
