Mikkel “Mix” Diskerud is ready for the next step in his professional life; The 24-year-old USMNT midfielder is out of contract after 2 1/2 years at Norwegian power Rosenborg and “open for anything”.
Diskerud scored the Yanks only goal on Tuesday in Dublin, briefly tying the match against Ireland to give himself three goals this year and six in 26 caps.
And he’ll be a man in demand, not just in Major League Soccer. He’s played in Norway, which carries Europe’s 27th-ranked Champions League coefficient, for both Rosenborg and Stabaek, as well as a loan stint at Belgian power Genk.

But MLS is the league Diskerud was asked about Tuesday.
From MLSSoccer.com:When asked specifically about a move to MLS, he said, “I’m open for anything right now. I have my people to talk to and discuss [options], so we’ll see what happens. But I’m holding all options open right now.”
Having spent the last two seasons with Norwegian powerhouse Rosenborg, Diskerud is now out of contract and has the ability to move on a free transfer. The possibility his signing will certainly excite many fans across MLS with the offseason right around the corner.
Diskerud was linked to Columbus earlier this year, and previously to the pre-Caleb Porter Portland Timbers. Where would he best fit in MLS? He could obviously do a job for either of the expansion teams, but a move to the Galaxy to fill in Landon Donovan’s spot is an arguable even swap for Los Angeles. A purchase by Chicago would also make a lot of sense given the Fire’s effort to land Jermaine Jones.
Though, again, there are plenty of leagues in Europe that are higher than 27. It would be interesting to see Diskerud playing in Ligue 1, maybe on Nantes with Alejandro Bedoya. The Eredivisie as a destination, to team up with Rubio Rubin? I’m realizing right now that it’s late and I just want him playing with a fellow USMNT attacker.
