Report: Tottenham Hotspur set to bid $24 million for Saido Berahino

According to reports, Saido Berahino is being targeted by Tottenham Hotspur.

The 21-year-old West Bromwich Albion striker has had a fine start to the season -- scoring five goals in his first seven PL matches -- and that has apparently caught the attention of Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Berahino has come through the youth ranks at West Brom and has scored 10 goals in 12 games for the England U-21 side. That impressive goals to game ratio has kept his name in the headlines, as did a double against Burnley in Week 6 of the Premier League.

With Spurs struggling to score this season -- just nine goals in seven games for Pochettino’s men -- could Berahino be the main man at White Hart Lane? Pochettino has a great record in developing youngsters (Calum Chambers, Luke Shaw and James Ward-Prowse to mention a few) and Berahino could be his next project.

The Sun newspapers in the UK reports that the Bagggies forward would cost Spurs over $24 million but with the club looking to offload goal-shy striker Roberto Soldado and others in January, that would free up some cash to tempt the young Burundi-born striker to North London.

It’s a question of when, not if, Berahino will make the step up to the full England squad. What about a potential move to a team in the upper echelons of the Premier League?
