Jamie Vardy may well have suitors, thanks to his breakout 2015-16 Premier League campaign, but Leicester City have no intentions of selling the 29-year-old England striker. Not now, not this summer, and not not anytime in the foreseeable future.

According to a report from the Guardian, Vardy is set to sign a new three-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the King Power Stadium until the summer of 2019, at which point he’ll be 32 years old. The report states Vardy will be given a “significant salary hike” on his current $57,000-per-week deal.
Vardy has been at Leicester since the summer of 2012 and this season enjoyed a meteoric rise that sees him sit atop the PL goalscoring charts with 16 goals scored in 23 games. Earlier this season, Vardy set a new PL record by scoring in 11 straight games, besting Ruud van Nistelrooy’s old mark of 10 straight games with a goal.

Transfer rumors have routinely linked Chelsea to a January or summer swoop for Vardy, as has also been the case with Liverpool and Manchester City.
With just 15 league games to be played this season, Leicester currently sit atop the PL table, three points ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal. It’s the most unlikely of stories, made possible only by the most unpredictable of seasons. The same could also be said of Leicester holding onto Vardy when the “bigger” clubs came calling, which makes it all the more pleasant to see.
