Dear Landon,
Tonight in East Hartford, Connecticut, you will end the greatest career the U.S. national team has ever seen. Your legacy will live on for decades and as soccer’s history books continue to be compiled in this fine nation, your name will feature prominently as a founding father of Major League Soccer and an instrumental figure in putting the game on the map in the USA. For that, we thank you and salute you for everything you’ve done for U.S. Soccer, MLS and the many great moments you’ve given American soccer fans.
Over the past few days we have been looking back on your incredible USMNT career with plenty of reflective, heartfelt pieces, as well as flicking through the annuals of YouTube to unearth some of your greatest moments in the Stars and Stripes. Man, there’s a bunch. Below is the full collection of PST’s content in celebration of your 157th, and final, game for the USA against Ecuador at Rentschler Field in Connecticut on Friday, October, 10, 2014.
Thanks for all the incredible memories. Yours in soccer,
ProSoccerTalk and fans of the U.S. national team, everywhere
