Last Saturday ended with Steve Spurrier, in the opinion of some people, tossing Jadeveon Clowney under the bus after the All-American defensive end was a last-minute scratch due to injury.
This Saturday begins with Clowney being back where he belongs.
South Carolina confirmed Saturday that Clowney will play in today’s game against Arkansas. The defensive lineman has been dealing with a rib injury that forced him to miss the Kentucky game last weekend.
Not only will Clowney play, but he is expected to start as well, although the final decision on that front will be up to defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward.
Following the win over UK, Spurrier seemingly called into question Clowney’s commitment to the Gamecocks. Spurrier later backtracked on the comments -- the OBC chalked it up to miscommunication by all the parties involved -- while the player himself made it very clear that he’s fully committed to the program.
Saturday wasn’t without its Clowney-related controversy, however. Early on in the show, ESPN‘s College GameDay reported that Clowney did not ride the team bus with the team to the stadium, intimating that the situation was still ongoing. A short time later, Chris Fowler was forced to apologize for the erroneous report as Clowney did indeed take the trip on the team bus with his teammates.
