Former Cyclone Blows Into NIU

Nearly four months after his decision to transfer from Iowa State, we have finally learned where Cameron Bell will land.

There has been no official release from the school, but, as noted by the DeKalb Daily Chronicle, there’s an updated roster on the Northern Illinois website and Bell’s name appears on it. It had been rumored early on that NIU might be a potential destination for Bell.

Interestingly, Bell is listed as a running back; at Iowa State, Bell played linebacker the last two seasons.

Coming out of high school, Bell was recruited mainly as a RB. However, then-ISU head coach Gene Chizik and his coaching staff viewed Bell as more of a LB, which is where Bell stayed the past two years after failing to take advantage of Chizik’s promise to win time in the Cyclones’ backfield.

Now, however, Bell will get to make up for that lost opportunity with the Huskies.
