    Beau Brieske fired two scoreless innings on Saturday as the Tigers’ opener against the Marlins.
    Brieske reeled off a pair of scoreless frames before lefty Joey Wentz came on to toss 4 2/3 scoreless frames of his own in a successful bulk relief outing. Detroit’s bullpen took care of the rest of the contest with Jason Foley, Tyler Holton and Alex Lange handling the final seven outs in a shutout effort.

    Michael Harris II has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain.
    If it wasn’t bad enough that the 23-year-old outfielder landed on the injured list with his hamstring strain, his MRI exam revealed it to be a more serious strain, which means that he’ll be sidelined for even longer. The Braves have yet to provide a timeline for his recovery, but it’s going to be longer than just a couple of weeks. Expect Ramon Laureano to see increased action in the Braves’ outfield in the meantime.

    Mariners prospect Jonny Farmelo was diagnosed with a torn ACL in his knee and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season.
    The 19-year-old outfielder was ranked as the sixth best prospect in the Mariners’ organization by MLB Pipeline. M’s general manager Justin Hollander told reporters on Saturday that the surgery has yet to be scheduled and that no timeline for his recovery exists just yet.

    Logan O’Hoppe went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer to lead the Angels to a 4-3 win over the Giants on Saturday.
    O’Hoppe knocked a base hit in the fourth inning, then took Keaton Winn deep for a two-run shot in the sixth to tie the game. The 24-year-old backstop is having a stellar season, slashing .284/.335/.476 with nine homers and 31 RBI across 225 plate appearances.

    Mickey Moniak went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Giants on Saturday.
    Moniak put the Angels on the board with a solo homer off Keaton Winn in the second inning for his only hit of the day. It was the third homer of the season for the 26-year-old outfielder while slashing .195/.243/.302 with 15 RBI and four steals across 169 plate appearances.

    Heliot Ramos went 3-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, and three RBI against the Angels on Saturday.
    Ramos stayed red hot at the plate on Saturday collecting three hits and driving in all three runs for the Giants. He took Patrick Sandoval deep for a two-run shot in the first inning, then drove in the third run on a double in the fifth. Ramos added a third extra-base hit with a double in the seventh. The 24-year-old outfielder is hitting an excellent .325/.407/.571 with eight homers and 30 RBI across 145 plate appearances.

    Carlos Estévez tossed a clean ninth inning with one strikeout to earn the save against the Giants on Saturday.
    Estévez was summoned in the ninth inning to close out the game with a one-run led over the Giants. He shut them down, retiring the side on 12 pitches and ending the game with a called third strike on Heliot Ramos. The 31-year-old right-hander is up to 12 saves with a 3.68 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and a 22/3 K/BB ratio across 22 innings.

    Patrick Sandoval allowed three runs with five strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Saturday.
    Sandoval served up a two-run homer to Heliot Ramos in the first inning. He settled in to toss three scoreless frames before Ramos got to him in the fifth, bringing a run home to score on a double. Sandoval would be done after five innings at 98 pitches, striking out five. The 27-year-old left-hander will take a 5.24 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and an 80/33 K/BB ratio across 77 1/3 innings into a road start against the Dodgers on Friday.

    Keaton Winn allowed three runs with six strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Angels on Saturday.
    Winn worked around a double in the first inning, then gave up a solo homer to Mickey Moniak in the second. Winn was hurt by the long ball again in the sixth, serving up a two-run homer to Logan O’Hoppe that tied the game. He’d be done after six with six strikeouts. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 6.66 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and a 46/19 K/BB ratio across 52 2/3 innings into a start against the Cardinals in St. Louis on Thursday.

    Jesse Winker will undergo an MRI exam to determine the extent of his right knee injury.
    Winker sustained the injury on Saturday when he was trying to get back to second base in the opening inning. If he’s forced to miss any substantial time, it could potentially open the door for the highly anticipated arrival of James Wood from Triple-A Rochester.

    Anthony Santander went 2-for-2 with two homers, four RBI, and a walk to lead the Orioles to a 6-2 win over the Phillies on Saturday.
    Santander drew a walk in the second inning, then led off the fourth with a solo homer off Taijuan Walker to tie the game. He later gave the Orioles some insurance runs in the eighth, taking José Ruiz deep for a two-run blast for his second homer of the day. After hitting nine home runs over the first two months, he’s already up to eight while hitting .298 in a red-hot June. The 29-year-old slugger is slashing .231/.307/.498 with 17 homers and 42 RBI across 277 plate appearances on the season.
