  • DET Second Baseman #77
Andy Ibanez went 1-for-2 with an RBI during Thursday’s victory over the White Sox.
The RBI was a sac fly that scored Javier Baez in the third inning. It was the only run either team scored in a game that featured fantastic pitching from Tarik Skubal and Garrett Crochet and less-than-spectacular offense from either club. Ibanez hit at the top of the lineup Thursday, and he’ll likely get a chance to do it against left-handed pitching for the foreseeable future. Even still, the fantasy upside is rather limited.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #43
White Sox recalled RHP Nick Nastrini from Triple-A Charlotte.
Nastrini will start tonight against the Royals. He lost his first two starts for the White Sox last month, giving up seven earned runs and seven walks in eight innings. He’ll probably do better this time around, but he’s not currently a mixed-league option on such a bad White Sox team.
  • CWS Right Fielder #31
White Sox recalled OF Zach DeLoach from Triple-A Charlotte.
He’s making his major league debut. DeLoach was batting .263/.369/.343 for Charlotte, though he was doing better than that in recent weeks. He hit .286/.387/.481 for Seattle’s Triple-A club last year, which is why the White Sox wanted him in the Gregory Santos trade this spring. The White Sox might as well give him a look in right field against righties while Eloy Jiménez is out, though Corey Julks will probably cut into his time.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #36
White Sox placed RHP Steven Wilson on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 20, with a strained back.
Wilson has been one of the White Sox’s most trusted relievers, even though he’s been awfully wild in walking 14 batters in 19 innings. He has a 2.84 ERA and six holds in a setup role.
  • CWS Left Fielder #74
White Sox placed DH Eloy Jiménez on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring.
So many leg injuries. Jiménez’s numbers aren’t great or even very good, but from an xwOBA perspective, he had really picked it up in recent weeks, and Statcast though he should have been slugging .465, rather than his current .381. The White Sox will put Gavin Sheets at DH while Jiménez is out, which at least will improve the defense. Corey Julks, Dominic Fletcher and Zach DeLoach will battle for at-bats in right.
  • BOS First Baseman #2
Dominic Smith is out of the lineup against a right-hander Wednesday for the first time since joining the Red Sox on May 1.
Garrett Cooper is starting over him at first base. Smith hasn’t much resembled a major leaguer through 17 games with his new team. He’s hitting .182/.224/.236 with a 15/2 K/BB ratio and exit velocity numbers again well down from his best days with the Mets.
  • TB Right Fielder #21
With Josh Lowe making his first start in center, both Jonny DeLuca and Jose Siri are on the bench Wednesday for the Rays.
It’s the first time since DeLuca came off the IL that someone other than DeLuca or Siri has played center. Richie Palacios has really faded of late, but the Rays are sticking with his left-handed bat for now. It’s DeLuca’s second straight day on the bench, even though he’s hit .261/.370/.478 in 17 games. Much of that production, though, has come versus lefties.
  • TOR Right Fielder #4
George Springer is out of the lineup Wednesday after going hitless in the Jays’ last two games,
Springer is down to .194/.276/.285 for the season, though Statcast still thinks he’s been terribly unlucky. Cavan Biggio will start in right field tonight.
  • BAL Right Fielder #25
Anthony Santander is back in right field Wednesday for the first time since suffering a bruised knee last week.
Santander was used as a designated hitter in his previous three starts. He’s batting cleanup today against the Cardinals.
  • BAL First Baseman #6
Ryan Mountcastle is out of the Orioles’ lineup Wednesday for the third time in five days.
The Orioles are DHing Adley Rutschman today, taking away Mountcastle’s spot. Mountcastle is in a 1-for-24 slump that’s dropped his OPS from .842 to .733. He’d be playing through it on practically any other team, but the stacked Orioles are treating him like a role player.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #58
Chris Roycroft will serve as the Cardinals’ 27th man in Wednesday’s game against the Orioles.
Roycroft was sent down Monday after allowing four runs over six innings in two weeks with the Cardinals. He’ll head back to Triple-A after the game.
