  • BOS Relief Pitcher #55
Chris Martin was unavailable out of the Red Sox’ bullpen on Sunday due to a sore left shoulder.
Fortunately, it’s not his pitching shoulder, which means that the ailment shouldn’t sideline him for long. The 37-year-old hurler has struggled in a setup role for the Red Sox this season, compiling a 6.00 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 9/1 K/BB ratio over his six innings of work.
  • NYY Shortstop #11
Anthony Volpe went 1-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base against the Twins on Thursday.
Volpe’s stolen base was his 12th of the season. He continues to occupy the leadoff spot in New York even after the return of D.J. LeMahieu. Volpe is up to 46 runs scored in 63 games for the Yankees this season.
  • COL Shortstop #79
Rockies 2B prospect Adael Amador went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI on Thursday for Double-A Hartford.
It certainly feels like Amador has heard all of the recent chatter regarding his slow start this season at the plate in the upper minors as he’s exploded for six round-trippers over his last eight games for Triple-A Hartford. The 21-year-old top prospect still has plenty of work to do from a batting average standpoint, but the fact that he’s starting to hit for more over-the-fence pop is an extremely encouraging development.
  • MIN Shortstop #4
Carlos Correa went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI against the Yankees on Thursday.
The home run was Correa’s fifth of the season. He later added a sacrifice fly and a single. Correa is hitting .263 with a .765 OPS and 24 RBI on the year. His .190 ISO would be his highest since his .205 ISO in 2021, his last year in Houston.
  • NYY Left Fielder #22
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters late Thursday that Juan Soto will undergo further imaging on his left forearm.
Boone added that Soto has been bothered by a lingering forearm issue for roughly a week at this juncture, which he has continued to receive treatment for, but he didn’t want to send him back out there following a lengthy rain delay during Thursday’s contest. The 25-year-old fantasy superstar will undergo some precautionary testing to determine the severity of the issue and there should be an update on his status ahead of Friday’s highly-anticipated series opener against the Dodgers.
  • NYY Relief Pitcher #35
Clay Holmes tossed a scoreless inning and picked up the save against the Twins on Thursday.
The save was Holmes’ 18th of the season. He has allowed an earned run in only one of 28 appearances this year. Holmes has been fabulous with a 1.32 ERA and 28 strikeouts on the season.
  • NYY Second Baseman #25
Gleyber Torres went 1-for-4 with a two-run double against the Twins on Thursday.
Torres gave the Yankees a 4-2 lead with a two-run double with the bases loaded in the third inning. He’s up to 21 RBI on the season now, but he has five RBI in his last three games. Maybe this is the start of Torres turning it around at the plate as he’s hitting .232 in his last season before heading to free agency.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #49
Pablo Lopez allowed seven runs in four innings and took the loss against the Yankees on Thursday.
Lopez gave up four hits, walked six and struck out four. It was a tough matchup against the Yankees, but Lopez was shaky in this one. He hit Austin Wells in the second inning and he scored on a home run by Trent Gresham. In the third inning, Lopez walked the bases loaded and all three of the runners ended up scoring. In the fourth inning, he walked Aaron Judge, who also ended up scoring. Lopez’ ERA is up to 5.45 on the season, but his xFIP is significantly lower at 3.42. The 28-year-old right-hander is set up for a bounce back matchup against the Rockies at home next week.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #0
Marcus Stroman allowed five runs in 4 2/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Yankees’ 8-5 victory over the Twins on Thursday.
Stroman gave up six hits, walked two and struck out two. He didn’t qualify for the win because he was unable to complete five innings. Stroman’s ERA is 3.16 on the season, but his xFIP is significantly higher at 4.48. He’s never been a big strikeout pitcher and has benefitted from an 82 percent left on base percentage this year. Stroman is certainly due for regression in that area. The 33-year-old right-hander is set to face the Royals at home next week.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #40
Tyler Kinley picked up the save against the Cardinals on Thursday.
The save was Kinley’s third of the season. This was a brutal beat for Jalen Beeks managers. Beeks blew the save Wednesday night, but was able to get through the eighth inning and record the first two outs of the ninth inning before Kinley came in and got the save. The Rockies closer situation isn’t for the weak-hearted with Beeks, Kinley and Justin Lawrence all in the mix.
  • COL Right Fielder #9
Brenton Doyle went 1-for-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases against the Cardinals on Thursday.
The two steals give Doyle a total of 16 on the season. He’s hitting .265 with five home runs, but the speed gives him a decent amount of value in fantasy. Doyle is hitting .337 at Coors Field this year compared to just .203 on the road. He has more value in formats where managers are able to maximize his home games while limiting his road games in their lineup.
