  • BOS Third Baseman #11
Rafael Devers was removed from Tuesday’s showdown against the Guardians with left knee discomfort.
Devers was 1-for-2 with a two-run double and a pair of walks before being replaced by Bobby Dalbec at third base in the eighth inning. The big concern here is that his removal from the contest isn’t related to the shoulder issue that kept him out for a couple games last week. There should be an update on his status following the contest.
  • BAL Shortstop #2
Gunnar Henderson went 1-for-3 with a lead off home run in Monday’s game against the Yankees.
Henderson got the O’s on the board early in the first frame with a solo shot that was 112.3 MPH off the bat, making it his hardest hit home run this season. It’s the 22-year-old’s 10th home run and third lead off home run this season. The reigning AL Rookie of the Year has been even better slashing .289/.352/.632 through 28 games in 2024.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #36
Clarke Schmidt allowed three hits and one earned run while striking out five batters in 5 2/3 innings on Monday against the Orioles.
Besides a lead off home run to Gunnar Henderson, Schmidt pitched well against a potent Baltimore offense. After the first inning when he allowed that home run and a single to Ryan O’Hearn, the 28-year-old hurler allowed just one hit in his final four innings. He now holds a solid 3.19 ERA, 1.39 WHIP with a 34/13 K/BB ratio in his six starts this season.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #30
Grayson Rodriguez went 5 2/3 innings and allowed five hits and no runs in a 1-0 victory against the Yankees.
After a putrid outing where he allowed seven earned runs, Rodriguez put together a scoreless performance and threw more than 100 pitches for the first time in a game this season. This was the 24-year-old’s third win of the season and brought his 4.45 ERA down to a cool 3.71 ERA.
  • MIA Second Baseman #2
Jazz Chisolm Jr. went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in a loss to the Nationals on Monday.
Déjà vu. Jazz has homered in back-to-back games. The 26-year-old got Miami on the board in the sixth inning when he took Jake Irvin’s fastball 414 feet to deep center field. Chisolm got off to a slow start this season, where he saw his batting average as low as .130 seven games into the season. However, he’s been able to create contact and get on base bringing his batting line to .248/.342/.410 with four homers and 17 RBI.
  • WAS Shortstop #5
CJ Abrams went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and two walks in a 7-2 win against the Marlins on Monday.
The 23-year-old continues to have a solid season slashing .300/.381/.640 with seven home runs and 16 RBI. His two-run home run came in the third inning as Trevor Rogers left a fastball right down the center of the plate and Abrams did not miss. There was a lot of discussion if Abrams’ 2023 season was a bit of beginner’s luck, but the Nats’ shortstop is showing that last season was not a one-off.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #28
Trevor Rogers yielded four hits and three earned runs across five innings of work against the Nationals on Monday.
Rogers has now allowed three earned runs in back-to-back starts. Two of those three runs came off the bat of CJ Abrams who homered in the third inning to give the Nats an early 2-0 lead. The 26-year-old is still winless on the season (0-4) and will try to pick up his first win of the season when the Marlins take on the Athletics this weekend.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #27
Jake Irvin allowed just two earned runs and punched out three batters against the Marlins on Monday.
Irvin has pitched six innings in three of his past four starts and was able to limit runs unlike his last outing where he gave up six to the Dodgers. He hasn’t been able to get batters to strikeout as much as he was at the beginning of the season. He’s struck out just three batters in back-to-back starts after having at least four punch outs in every start previously. Fantasy managers should plan to start Irvin on a matchup-basis as he’s gotten rocked against the Phillies and Dodgers, but has been serviceable against lesser opponents. He’ll likely be on the bump again when the Nationals take on the Blue Jays this weekend.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #58
Dodgers recalled RHP Gus Varland from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Varland is taking the roster spot of Ryan Brasier as Brasier was placed on the injured list with a calf strain. Varland will be a mid-to-late innings option for the Dodgers in this stint with the club.
  • LAD Right Fielder #23
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters before Monday’s game that Jason Heyward still hasn’t been cleared for baseball activities.
To be more specific, Roberts said that he “doesn’t believe” Heyward has been cleared for activities, which is a little weird. Heyward will certainly need a rehab assignment before he’s ready to play, but that assignment may not come until next week at the earliest. There’s a good chance he’s not back with the Dodgers until closer to the end of May than the beginning.
  • MIA Shortstop #7
Tim Anderson left Monday’s game against the Nationals with a left thumb sprain.
Anderson collided with Alex Call on a tag and looked to be in a significant amount of pain. The Marlins are calling Anderson day-to-day, but don’t be surprised if the 31-year-old misses at least a game while he recovers.
