  • STL Relief Pitcher #56
Ryan Helsley struck out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning to record the save against the Mets on Saturday.
Helsley was summoned to close out the game with a three-run lead in the ninth inning. He struck out the first batter, but allowed two singles and a walk to load the bases with two outs before getting Francisco Lindor to fly out to end the game. The 29-year-old right-hander is up to nine saves with a 1.80 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and a 17/2 K/BB ratio across 15 innings.
  • SD Shortstop #2
The Padres are calling Xander Bogaerts’ injury left shoulder inflammation.
It’s an odd diagnosis, being that this was a sudden injury sustained while diving for a ball, but it’s what we’re left with after the Padres couldn’t initially find anything serious going on within the shoulder. He obviously was not included in the lineup for the second game of today’s doubleheader.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #41
Joe Ross exited Monday’s game after the first inning with an undisclosed injury.
Jared Koenig replaced Ross against the Marlins. Assuming that this is an IL-type situation, perhaps Bradley Blalock could join the rotation.
  • NYM Center Fielder #6
Starling Marte was ejected from Monday’s game in the fourth inning for arguing balls and strikes.
Marte couldn’t let it go after being (correctly) called out to end the top of the fourth and was tossed as he was beginning to walk out to right field for the bottom of the inning. Tyrone Taylor replaced him versus the Guardians.
  • SEA Shortstop #3
Mariners activated SS J.P. Crawford from the 10-day injured list.
Crawford’s pregame workout today was impressive enough to get him back on the roster tonight after his absence due to an oblique strain and a subsequent bruised hand, but he won’t return to the starting lineup until tomorrow. Dylan Moore will return to his utility role then after spending the last 3 1/2 weeks as a starting shortstop.
  • SEA Shortstop #76
Mariners optioned INF Leo Rivas to Triple-A Tacoma.
Not given much of a chance with Dylan Moore playing well at shortstop, Rivas went 2-for-6 with a triple in 25 days with the Mariners.
  • TOR Catcher #9
Danny Jansen went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and five RBI as the Blue Jays bested the White Sox 9-3 on Monday.
Jansen, who hadn’t batted higher than fifth this season until today, had his big game from the second spot in the lineup. He’s batting .333/.397/.681 with five homers and just nine strikeouts through 78 plate appearances. It seems like more than just a hot streak, so he’s probably a top-10 fantasy catcher for the short term. Still, staying healthy has been quite an issue for the 29-year-old.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #17
José Berríos defeated the White Sox by allowing three runs in six innings on Monday.
Three things worked in favor of Berríos on a day in which he was lacking his best stuff: he was facing the White Sox, he had CB Bucknor working his own special brand of magic behind the plate and he was facing the White Sox. Berríos allowed eight hits, including a Paul DeJong homer that was the seventh he’s surrendered in his last five outings. He’s currently 5-3 with a 2.98 ERA.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #20
Erick Fedde allowed five runs in six innings against the Blue Jays on Monday to take his first loss of the season.
Fedde gave up five runs for the third time this season. Fortunately, he’s allowed a total of six runs in his other seven starts combined, leaving him 4-1 with a 3.10 ERA.
  • TOR Shortstop #11
Bo Bichette finished 4-for-4 with three doubles against the White Sox on Monday.
The first double should have been an out, but the last two were legit. Those two and the single were all hit at least 105 mph, making this easily Bichette’s best exit-velocity day of the season. It was definitely an encouraging showing, even if it was aided by some meatballs from the White Sox staff.
  • CWS Shortstop #29
Paul DeJong went 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and a steal against the Blue Jays on Monday.
Given his current approach, it almost seems like an accident whenever DeJong finishes an at-bat without a strikeout or a homer. Consequently, this was the third time in 42 games this season that he’d picked up multiple singles in a game. Still, he’s been one of the White Sox’s best players in hitting .246/.295/.462.
