  • CLE Relief Pitcher #52
Nick Sandlin fired a scoreless 11th inning to pick up a save against Atlanta on Saturday.
Sandlin gets the save chance after the Guardians used Emanuel Clase in a tie game in the ninth inning. Sandlin didn’t allow a hit while picking up a strikeout and also his first save of the year. Sandlin is a solid relief option for Cleveland, but with Clase in the fold, his save chances are going to be slim. Slim might be too high.
  • BAL Shortstop #2
Gunnar Henderson homered in a victory over the Diamondbacks on Saturday in 11 innings.
  • ARI Second Baseman #4
Ketel Marte hit a two-run homer against the Orioles on Saturday in an extra-innings loss.
  • BAL Third Baseman #11
Jordan Westburg hit a walk-off single to give the Orioles to a 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks in the 11th inning Saturday.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #47
John Means allows four runs over 4 2/3 innings Saturday against the Diamondbacks while not factoring into the decison.
Means was outstanding Saturday against the Reds. This outing would best be described as shaky at best. The left-hander gave up six hits, and he struck out three while not issuing a walk. The 31-year-old gave up a two-run homer to Ketel Marte in the third, and two more were charged to him after he exited with one out in the fifth. Means will try and bounce back Friday against the Mariners.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #19
Ryne Nelson gave up three runs on 10 hits over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Saturday.
Nelson didn’t walk anyone and he struck out three. He allowed a solo homer to Gunnar Henderson, and while he “only” allowed the three runs Saturday, he was pretty much in trouble throughout the outing. Nelson has a 5.33 ERA, and a chance to lower that comes Friday against the Tigers at home.
  • ATL Shortstop #11
Orlando Arcia hit a two-run homer in a victory over the Mets on Saturday.
Arcia gave Atlanta a 2-0 lead with a two-run shot off an otherwise-effective Christian Scott in the third. The 29-year-old shortstop has homered four times in 2024 with 15 RBI. You can do worse from a middle-infield option.
  • NYM Right Fielder #28
J.D. Martinez hit a solo homer in the ninth in a loss to Atlanta on Saturday.
It didn’t really impact the result of the game, but Martinez saved the Mets some embarrassment with his homer, as it prevented the team from being no-hit. He waited until the last moment to do so, as it came with two outs in the ninth off Raisel Iglesias. It’s the first homer of the season for Martinez, and the first as a member of the Mets.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #26
Raisel Iglesias allowed a solo homer while picking up a strikeout in a relief appearance Saturday against the Mets.
Atlanta didn’t allow a hit over the first 8 2/3 innings, but Iglesias gave up the no-no — and the shutout — but allowing a homer to J.D. Martinez. Iglesias also gave up another hit and a walk, but he was able to escape the jam; although the escape comes without a save since he entered the game with a 4-0 lead.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #54
Max Fried went seven no-hit innings to help Atlanta to a 4-1 win over the Mets on Saturday.
For the second time in three starts, Fried has not allowed a hit. Unfortunately, his pitch count has prevented him from being able to complete the no-no in both, and he was done Saturday after throwing 109 pitches. The Mets wouldn’t pick up a hit until a solo homer off Raisel Iglesias J.D. Martinez in the ninth. Still, the left-hander was once again awfully impressive, and he struck out five against three walks without really being challenged throughout the outing. Fried will take a 3.57 ERA into his next scheduled start, which is penciled in for Friday against San Diego.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #45
Christian Scott was charged for three runs over six innings with eight strikeouts in a loss to Atlanta on Saturday.
Scott walked two, and he scattered eight hits in a solid start against one of the better lineups in baseball in just his second MLB start. The right-hander has certainly shown his swing-and-miss stuff with 14 strikeouts in those first two outings with a 2.84 ERA showing he’s limited the damage when hitters do put the ball in play. Scott looks legit, but faces the red-hot Phillies next week.
