  • ARI Starting Pitcher #52
Jordan Montgomery was scratched from Tuesday’s start against the Dodgers following a two-hour delay after a bee colony formed on the protective netting behind home plate at Chase Field.
Montgomery presumably went through his entire usual pregame routine prior to Tuesday’s showdown against the Dodgers before the removal of a bee colony that formed behind home plate resulted in a two-hour delay. It’s an unfortunate break for fantasy managers as the 31-year-old left-hander loses a start to one of the more bizarre incidents in recent memory.
  • CHC Shortstop #75
Cubs recalled INF Luis Vázquez from Triple-A Iowa.
As expected, Vázquez is up to provide some infield depth for the Cubs. The 24-year-old hit .270 with three homers and a stolen base over 38 games while with Iowa. There’s no fantasy potential for 2024 with Vázquez.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher #44
Guardians recalled RHP Xzavion Curry from Triple-A Columbus.
Curry will get the start Tuesday with Carlos Carrasco unable to pitch due to neck spasms. Curry is stretched out enough to potentially qualify for a win, and he’s a sneaky-good streaming option for Tuesday against a beatable Mets’ lineup.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #59
Guardians placed RHP Carlos Carrasco on the 15-day injured list with neck spasms.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #49
Rangers transferred RHP Austin Pruitt from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Pruitt has been on the shelf since April 24 with a right meniscus injury. He now won’t be eligible to return to the Rangers until June 24 at the earliest. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster, and Texas used it to select the contract of Derek Hill from Triple-A Round Rock.
  • TEX Center Fielder #34
Rangers selected the contract of OF Derek Hill from Triple-A Round Rock.
Hill is added to the 40-man and active roster by the Rangers after hitting .333 with a 1.086 OPS, eight homers and six stolen bases in the Pacific Coast League. A former first-round pick, Hill will likely only be a bench option while he’s with Texas. Davis Wendzel was sent down to Round Rock in a previous corresponding transaction.
  • NYY Right Fielder #27
Giancarlo Stanton is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Mariners.
Stanton will get a night off against the Mariners with Bryan Woo on the bump for Seattle. Aaron Judge will be the designated hitter with Trent Grisham getting a start in center field.
  • HOU Center Fielder #38
Astros optioned OF Trey Cabbage to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Cabbage is sent down with Chas McCormick (hamstring) officially coming off the injured list. the 27-year-old will provide organizational depth with a chance to return as a bench option for Houston before the 2024 season comes to a close.
  • HOU Left Fielder #20
Astros activated OF Chas McCormick off the 10-day injured list.
Trey Cabbage was optioned to Triple-A in the corresponding transaction. McCormick missed three weeks with his right hamstring strain. The outfielder should get a chance to play, but Houston does have a bit of an outfield jam with Joey Loperfido and Jake Meyers also likely to see time for Houston.
  • NYM Third Baseman #22
Brett Baty is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Guardians.
Baty has really struggled as of late, and the 24-year-old will ride the pine to begin Tuesday’s game with Mark Vientos getting the start. Baty still have long-term appeal, but there’s just as much risk as reward in his profile for the 2024 season.
  • NYM Center Fielder #44
Harrison Bader is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday’s tilt against the Guardians.
Bader will take a seat on the bench after going 1-for-3 with a double and two strikeouts Monday. The outfielder gets a break with Tyrone Taylor handling center field and hitting fifth.
